Writ large: Genomic dissection of the effect of cellular environment on immune response
Cells of the immune system routinely respond to cues from their local environment and feed back to their surroundings through transient responses, choice of differentiation trajectories, plastic changes in cell state, and malleable adaptation to their tissue of residence. Genomic approaches have opened the way for comprehensive interrogation of such orchestrated responses. Focusing on genomic profiling of transcriptional and epigenetic cell states, we discuss how they are applied to investigate immune cells faced with various environmental cues. We highlight some of the emerging principles on the role of dense regulatory circuitry, epigenetic memory, cell type fluidity, and reuse of regulatory modules in achieving and maintaining appropriate responses to a changing environment. These provide a first step toward a systematic understanding of molecular circuits in complex tissues
Perbedaan Nilai Range of Motion (Rom) Sendi Ekstremitas Atas Sebelum Dan Sesudah Pelatihan Senam Lansia Menpora Pada Kelompok Lansia Kemuning Banyumanik, Semarang
Background: Higher life expectancy led to increasing number of elderly and health problems, including difficulty in ADL\u27s and IADL\u27s activities. Getting older, flexibility decreases, while MENPORA elderly gymnastics is a form of exercise that is easy for the elderly to improve their range of motion (ROM). Objective: Proving MENPORA elderly gymnastics training can increase value of upper limb joints\u27 ROM in Kemuning elderly group, Banyumanik, Semarang. Methods: The study is one group pretest-posttest quasi-experimental design. Samples are elderly people in Kemuning, Banyumanik, Semarang, who met inclusion criteria and no exclusion criteria (n=11); upper limb joints\u27 ROM were measured with universal goniometer. Data distribution tested with Saphiro- Wilk. Normal distribution tested with paired T-test, while abnormal distribution tested with Wilcoxon test. Results : The upper limb joints\u27 ROM difference on the elderly after MENPORA elderly gymnastics are : articulatio humeri: abduction : right: (-24.545±11.058°) ,p=0.00, left: -24.909±11.058°, p=0.00; adduction:right:(-10.909±11.794°), p=0.012, left:(-17.727±13.850°),p=0.002; flexion: right:(-18 636±16.747°), p= 0.012, left: : (-17.727±13.850°,p= 0.002,p=0.012; hyprextension: right: (Z = -1.962°) ,p = 0.040, left: (-9.091±4.908°),p=0.010 ; articulatio cubiti: flexion: right: (10.455±10.829°), p= 0.009, left: (Z=-2,825), p=0.005 ; hyperextension: right: (Z=-2.236 °),p = 0.025, left: Z=(-2,00),p=0.046; articulatio radiocarpea :flexion right:(13.636±7.447°), p= 0.00, left; (Z=-2.829),p=0.005; hyperextension right: (Z = -2.754 ° ) , p = 0.006, left: (-9.091±4.908),p=0,00 . Conclusion: MENPORA elderly gymnastics training can increase the value of the upper limb joints\u27 ROM in Kemuning elderly group, Banyumanik, Semarang
On the accuracy of solving confluent Prony systems
In this paper we consider several nonlinear systems of algebraic equations
which can be called "Prony-type". These systems arise in various reconstruction
problems in several branches of theoretical and applied mathematics, such as
frequency estimation and nonlinear Fourier inversion. Consequently, the
question of stability of solution with respect to errors in the right-hand side
becomes critical for the success of any particular application. We investigate
the question of "maximal possible accuracy" of solving Prony-type systems,
putting stress on the "local" behavior which approximates situations with low
absolute measurement error. The accuracy estimates are formulated in very
simple geometric terms, shedding some light on the structure of the problem.
Numerical tests suggest that "global" solution techniques such as Prony's
algorithm and ESPRIT method are suboptimal when compared to this theoretical
"best local" behavior
Volatility of Linear and Nonlinear Time Series
Previous studies indicate that nonlinear properties of Gaussian time series
with long-range correlations, , can be detected and quantified by studying
the correlations in the magnitude series , i.e., the ``volatility''.
However, the origin for this empirical observation still remains unclear, and
the exact relation between the correlations in and the correlations in
is still unknown. Here we find analytical relations between the scaling
exponent of linear series and its magnitude series . Moreover, we
find that nonlinear time series exhibit stronger (or the same) correlations in
the magnitude time series compared to linear time series with the same
two-point correlations. Based on these results we propose a simple model that
generates multifractal time series by explicitly inserting long range
correlations in the magnitude series; the nonlinear multifractal time series is
generated by multiplying a long-range correlated time series (that represents
the magnitude series) with uncorrelated time series [that represents the sign
series ]. Our results of magnitude series correlations may help to
identify linear and nonlinear processes in experimental records.Comment: 7 pages, 5 figure

The Central Timna Valley Project: 5 Years of Ongoing Textile Research
In its initial five years of activity the Central Timna Valley Project has dedicated its efforts to the excavation of several Late Bronze and Iron Age sites (13th-9th centuries BC) in the southern Arabah Valley of Israel (fig. 1).1 The project, headed by Erez Ben-Yosef of Tel Aviv University, explores the ancient exploitation of copper ores at Timna; these were utilised for the production of copper ingots that were traded throughout the southern Levant and possibly the greater Mediterranean region. It is within the strata of several newly excavated sites that a few hundred individual textile, cordage and rope fragments were uncovered
Catch and Length-Weight Relationship of Freshwater Lobster, Cherax Quadricarinatus Von Martens, 1868 in Tondano Lake, Kakas District, Minahasa, North Sulawesi
